This is a very good wooden pizza peel. It is not intended to be left damp, soaking in a sink or dishwasher. However, for pulling pizza off a stone in a conventional oven, or for placing pizza on a stone, this does the job every time. It was unusually packed (and I’m not using unusual in a good sense) by Amazon, and it would help if there was a cover available for it. The handle has no hole to hang it off a hook. We have improvised a cover. Pizza slides off and on easily with this peel, it also is able to get under a hot pizza for removal without any problem.

The listing said that this peel has a 12″ wide x 18″ long “paddle” and was 42″ long overall. What I received was an 18″ x 18″ paddle end. This is NOT what I ordered and is far too wide to allow it to be used to remove a pizza from my 13″ wide trays so they can be decked before being removed from my pizza oven. The peel is completely useless to me. It seems to be made as well as any of the peels I used when I owned my pizzeria and maybe even better than the most recent peels I’ve been buying locally as their quality has gone way downhill. That being said, I will give 2 stars because of the appearance of quality instead of the one star I planned to give because it wasn’t even close to what I ordered. Amazon needs to change the description for this item ASAP.

We actually bought this peel as part of a wedding gift. My husband is famous for his home made pizza so when we looked at his sister’s gift registry and saw a pizza stone, we had to get it for her. But, she had not registered for a peel! We feel that a peel is essential so we found this one for them. It was a good price and when it arrived my husband was totally jealous. He says its bigger than his peel!

I received my pizza peel yesterday. First of all, it was badly packed — taped to the bottom of a long box, with crumpled brown paper above it. The peel had a lengthwise crack, possibly due to impact during shipping. It is made of the kind of wood that could crack that way, not as pictured in the illustration. Also…
it had several knots.
it was oversize, did not fit in oven.
it could have been smoother, that’s important to slide the pizza off.
I’m awaiting pickup for the return and refund.
