I was hopeful when I first saw this advertised but the reality has been disappointing. On the plus side it’s certainly pretty. well-balanced, and strong enough to avoid the annoying flex often common in knives of this size. But it failed to hold its edge through even my first two very light uses on vegetables and attempts to hone or resharpen it haven’t been successful. That’s a major flaw — surely the edge is the whole point of a knife? The “non-stick” surface is nothing special either; chopped viscous vegetables build up as quickly on the outside of this blade as they do on other knives. Cannot recommend unless you’re just trying to color-coordinate your kitchen!

I’ve gone through so many knives and found nothing better than this. This knife is perfect for everything and this brand is the best.

Of all the Kuhn Rikon knives, I think this one is the best value.

First I got the Kuhn Rikon paring knife. I experienced the quality of that and added this Kuhn Rikon utility knife. The red color helps me see it immediately since nothing else is that color in the utensil drawer. I keep them in their sheaths in the drawer since they are so sharp. I’ve never had such sharp kitchen knives.

The kitchen utility knife is really a MUCH larger version of a paring knife. It’s for peeling and slicing, particularly slicing something big. It’s sharp enough to easily slice any food item I can imagine. And noting the price, one can have an excellent red utility knife without treating it as a luxury purchase. The sharper the knife, the less muscle power is needed. I’ve already used this knife for non-food purposes such as cutting through think plastic, and nothing else in my house does that properly.

Compared to other knives I’ve used, this is easy and clean to use because it’s non-stick. That quality help you use it efficiently, but you have to be extra careful of the sharpness. The handle is larger than the paring knife handle, allowing a very good grip, making this the ultimate slicing knife in my kitchen. The handle is plastic and lightweight, so the knife doesn’t have a balanced feel that hunting knives have. I don’t expect more for the price.

An excellent companion for the utility knife is the paring knife: Kuhn Rikon Paring Knife Nonstick Black.

Love this little knife. Great design and the case is fantastic. Had to get a knife for myself since husband is always stealing mine. Works well, looks fantastic ad the color is great. Will get more in different types.
